‘The Gap Narrows’
This photo was taken shortly after take-off from McCarren Airport in Las Vegas, and features the fringe of the Las Vegas valley, Red Rock National Park, and a glimpse of Mt. Charleston.
As time passes, the gap between nature and civilization narrows - we are consumers. This particular valley has a low populous, at the moment, due to conservation acts and laws forbidding development. This concept of preservation exists to keep things intact so that they can be enjoyed by a later generation, but this ideology has an expiration date - some time in the near future, this cleft between the two contrasting ecospheres will be non-existant. The two will become one, but this relationship will not be symbiotic - a more likely analogy is a hunter and its prey. See all that you can before it expires.
Enjoy.

‘The Lesser Known Side of the Flood Building’
The ornate façade of the Flood Building has adorned Market Street in San Francisco since 1904. Once the tallest building in the city, it survived the 1906 earthquake and has housed many noted tenants since then: Pacific Railroad and Woolworth’s are the most notable.
Today, it is the residence of Gap, Anthropologie, and Urban Outfitters.
This is the back of the building. It echoes it’s past by sharing old brick and communicating the simplicity of its identity by simply saying, ‘Flood Building.’

‘Stan The Man’
If you haven’t gathered by now, I recently went on a soul searching adventure to San Francisco, California. I had to get out on my own and just discover new people and places that were unfamiliar to me in order to increase the boundaries of my comfort zone. What better place to accomplish such a goal than the beautiful Bay Area?
I arrived at SFO around 10 a.m., and was charged with the challenge of finding my way to Rosie’s place using public transportation. The technology of today allowed me to map out door-to-door directions on my Blackberry, so I wasn’t so worried…but all stories have stipulations: Saturday, March 12th was SF’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and all public transportation was shut down in the heart of the city, Union Square…
I traversed the hills of SF trying to find an applicable transport hub to get me and my 80 lbs. of luggage to wherever the hell I was supposed to go. Me, wearing all black, must have stood out like a sore thumb amongst a sea of green and orange, but fuck it, this event is like 5 days early! I finally found a stop, which was inundated with weary St. Patty’s Day Parade attendees; I knew I’d be fighting to get on the bus for at least another hour. While mapping out my plan of attack, I was subsequently approached by Stan, a man living on the streets of San Francisco.
Stan, sensing my confusion and dilemma, and knowing I was from out-of-town, lent a helping hand in directing me to my destination. He explained the in and outs of the day’s transportation woes and informed me that the ‘locals’ waiting at the same stop as me ‘would be there for a long fuckin’ time…’
Thank you Stan the Man! We walked for another 45 minutes and arrived at a less crowded intersection, which included a bus stop. All the way there, Stan greeted the valets and concierges and was well appreciated by his townspeople - I felt like his entourage as he fought his way through the paparazzi clamoring to talk to transient celebrity. I thanked him for his time and guidance, cut him some dough (which, in retrospect, probably wasn’t enough), and promised him I’d share his good deed with a narrative and a photo.
This is that story…
Enjoy.

‘Falling…’
Nice little artistic expression spread all over the sidewalks of San Francisco, this one was my favorite because it’s falling slightly of the edge of the curb.
Sometimes when things are going smoothest, and you feel like you’re working your way up and regaining all the pieces you left behind; rebuilding your character because, suddenly, you find that it’s worth it. All the while you wonder why and how it’s happening so fast; the pace is so rapid yet comfortable. However, it’s inevitable, you realize your not climbing that fast, you’re only ‘Falling…’

‘Trail Blazer’
One of my favorite shots from the trip to San Francisco. This was taken at Golden Gate Park during a break from a torrential downpour. I hiked the ins and outs of this park for 3 hours, covering an unofficial distance of 9 miles. It was really quit subduing - iPod on full blast, rain licking my face like an overexcited puppy, and a flow of shots that would make a bartender jealous (if they served photos).
This photo was obtained during a zoom spin during exposure. The key is to find a focal point at the center of your viewfinder and make sure you’re real steady with the camera as you spin the zoom lens. Camera should be set to shutter priority or manual, if you’re a boss ;), an exposure of 1/400 is sufficient to zoom onto your subject as your shutter opens and subsequently closes.
Wrap-up: Thought a lot, shot a lot, got a lot.
Enjoy.
