‘Fresh Cut’
Sunrise greets the freshly mowed grass. The delicate process of gas trade commences, cleansing the emissions from the day before.
Fair trade.

‘Periwinkle Dew’
The Vinca minor sports a shade of lavender blue otherwise known as periwinkle. It was the favorite color of my first crush, Ms. Erin. She was 23 and I was 5, so things didn’t work out…
Always hot for teacher…
‘The Other Side’
They say the grass is greener on the other side; however, in this case, danger looms across the fence.
It’s sometimes OK to obey (…but breaking the rules feels oh so good).
‘Out-Look’
A girl looks upon nature on an outcrop at Mount Charleston.
Don’t forget where you came from.
‘Off Putting’
Today’s weather was absolutely brilliant in Las Vegas. There wasn’t a cloud in sight and the air quality and visibility were both quite superb. It was the perfect day for a shoot. I needed some time to decompress after a crazy week that I barely could recall… it was either the alcohol or the break-neck, no sleep, pace I subjected myself to. In either case, I reflected a lot on what I had done and analyzed the work load I had remaining. Let me tell you, these thoughts were very…off putting.
The goals I’ve set for myself encompass all of my passions, desires, and dreams; under analysis, these ambitions seem so out of reach. I tried to wrangle these thoughts into a more manageable scale and rate them according to importance; however, I soon realized that the things important to the future were sacrificed to the my current ventures, and vice-versa. Let me tell you, these thoughts were very…off putting.
All of this came to a point of culmination as I took a drive to meet a girl at a bar. I wasn’t sure of her intentions, hell, I wasn’t quite sure of mine! Nervous and annoyed, I roamed the streets and saw a construction sign that claimed Nevada DOT was ‘Putting In Work.’ Upon seeing the word ‘putting’ I realized, depending on the context, it meant two very different things. This brought on ideas of perception and its affect on how each of us are also analyzed in ‘context.’ I recognized that there is little we can do to alter how we are perceived without also changing the composition of what surrounds us. Let me tell you, these thoughts were very…off putting.
Needless to say, the date went quite terribly: she wasn’t my type, she was homophobic, she had little to no ambition, she was ill-educated, and her first words to me were, “I should have worn my short shoes…” Really!? I gave her a piece of my mind, whilst being a gentleman; subtly hinting at her ‘short’ comings, and wittily circumventing any notion that she was better than me. Truth is, I had another one on my mind, someone I shouldn’t pursue; and respect for that situation allows me to go no further, but let me tell you, this thought is very…off putting.
During today’s photo shoot, we entered this public golf course to grab some shots - and it hit me. It’s no new realization, but I recognized that life is merely a game. The game of golf is a great analogy - a standard is set, the par, and each of us is rated based on our skill by tallying the number of our mistakes; the one with the least strokes wins. The tee-off is technically the easiest: aim, then hit the shit out of the ball. The subsequent strokes are more difficult, and then it all comes down to finesse on those final coercions towards the goal. The putt is key to a great score, this brings it all full circle: practice your finish to have a great game. Practice make you better, and let me tell you, this thought is not so…off putting.
If you need me in the near future, no worries, I’ll still be around, I’ll just be…off, putting.
‘Species Unknown’
I was really happy I snapped this photo, thinking it was an Indian Paintbrush Flower - which connects with one of my fondest memories of childhood and it was the third or fourth flower I could identify at 5 years old (the others are dandelion, sunflower, and rose). I came to find out (after a little research) that this is not, in fact, an Indian Paintbrush Flower… or it may be and is not in bloom, but not probable.
It’s crazy the things you hold on to from so long ago.
Still one of my most liked shots from the trip.
Enjoy.
‘Trail Blazer’
One of my favorite shots from the trip to San Francisco. This was taken at Golden Gate Park during a break from a torrential downpour. I hiked the ins and outs of this park for 3 hours, covering an unofficial distance of 9 miles. It was really quit subduing - iPod on full blast, rain licking my face like an overexcited puppy, and a flow of shots that would make a bartender jealous (if they served photos).
This photo was obtained during a zoom spin during exposure. The key is to find a focal point at the center of your viewfinder and make sure you’re real steady with the camera as you spin the zoom lens. Camera should be set to shutter priority or manual, if you’re a boss ;), an exposure of 1/400 is sufficient to zoom onto your subject as your shutter opens and subsequently closes.
Wrap-up: Thought a lot, shot a lot, got a lot.
Enjoy.
